BILINGUISMO
El Liceo de Cervantes ha asumido la tarea de formar niños, niñas y jóvenes con la capacidad para enfrentar los retos que les plantea el contexto mundial; para lo cual ha diseñado e implementado de manera gradual y sistemática un Modelo de Bilingüismo que acoge la intención del Programa Nacional de Bilingüismo, los estándares definidos por el Marco Común Europeo de Referencia para las Lenguas, el PEI y el Modelo Pedagógico del Liceo. Este modelo de bilingüismo se fundamenta de igual modo, en un marco teórico que toma como referencia diferentes postulados y metodologías para la adquisición de segundas lenguas que se adecúan al contexto y a los objetivos institucionales. Es por esto que mediante la resolución No. 01-0120 del 3 diciembre de 2018 la secretaría de educación nacional reconoce al Liceo de Cervantes como Institución Bilingüe Nacional.
El Modelo de Bilingüismo del Liceo de Cervantes se implementará en todas las áreas académicas de la institución de manera secuencial. En el ciclo de Preescolar y Básica Primaria (Grados Jardín a Quinto) este proceso se desarrolla a través de una metodología que establece una relación interactiva y secuencial entre las dos lenguas que se aprenden, lo cual asegura un óptimo desarrollo tanto cognitivo como lingüístico. Para esto, se cuenta con las asignaturas de Science, Math y Social Studies y en la fase “Time 4 English” se involucran las demás áreas del conocimiento, las cuales utilizan el inglés como herramienta fundamental en la construcción de contenidos.
En los ciclos de Básica Secundaria y media (Grados Sexto a Undécimo) se proyecta integrar la enseñanza de lengua y contenido en las asignaturas de Science, Math, Social Studies, el Proyecto “Cross Curricular Work” en todos los grados y en la fase “Time 4 English” los proyectos especiales involucrando todas las áreas.
A partir del 2017 se hizo oficial el programa de certificación a través del Consejo Británico mediante la obtención del certificado como centro preparador de exámenes otorgado por Cambridge assessment. La medición del progreso en el desarrollo del bilingüismo, actualmente, se realiza a partir de las pruebas estandarizadas del Marco Común Europeo (YLE, KET, PET, FCE, IELT y TOEFL teniendo como requisito a 2023 alcanzar el nivel B2 – C1 en el grado Undécimo, lo cual se constituirá como condición para ser proclamado bachiller por la institución.

BILINGUALISM
The Liceo de Cervantes has taken on the task of training boys, girls and young people with the ability to face the challenges presented by the global context. To this end, it has designed and implemented, gradually and systematically, a Bilingualism Model which takes on board the intention of the National Bilingualism Programme, the standards defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, the PEI and the Liceo's Pedagogical Model. This model of bilingualism is also based on a theoretical framework which takes as its reference different postulates and methodologies for the acquisition of second languages which are appropriate to the context and institutional objectives. For this reason, by means of Resolution No. 01-0120 of December the 3rd 2018, the National Education Secretary recognised the Liceo de Cervantes as a national bilingual institution.
The Bilingualism Model of the Liceo de Cervantes will be implemented in all academic areas of the institution in a sequential order. In the Preschool and Primary School cycle (Grades K to 5) this process is developed through a methodology that establishes an interactive and sequential relationship between the two languages that are learnt, which ensures optimum development both cognitively and linguistically. To achieve this, we have the subjects of Science, Math and Social Studies and in the "Time 4 English" phase the other areas of knowledge are involved, using English as a fundamental tool in the content construction.
In the cycles of Basic Secondary and Middle School (Grades 6 to 11), we plan to integrate the teaching of language and content in the subjects of Science, Math, Social Studies, the Project "Cross Curricular Work" in all grades and in the phase "Time 4 English" the special projects involving all areas.
From 2017 the certification programme was made official through the British Council by obtaining the certificate as an exam preparation centre granted by Cambridge assessment. The measurement of the progress in the development of bilingualism, at the current time, is done by means of the standardized tests of the Common European Framework (YLE, KET, PET, FCE, IELT and TOEFL) having as a requirement to reach the level B2 - C1 in the eleventh grade in 2023, which will be a prerequisite to be proclaimed a bachelor by the institution.
